In the age of generic commercial design, 1 Market Street offers discerning tenants three bespoke workspaces. Novo are in the process of carefully restoring and converting one of Altrincham's historic buildings in the town's Old Market Place Conservation area, close to the town centre, ready for completion by summer 2022.

1 Market Street sits within Altrincham’s Old Market Place Conservation area and is one of the town’s landmark buildings. When we first acquired the building, it had planning consent for conversion into a number of small residential units that would have meant the unique proportions of the building were lost forever.

After stripping back the interior to its bare bones, Novo, working with the owners, decided to take a very different approach, one that celebrates the space that the original design offers. This includes revealing a vast 8m tall vaulted ceiling in what was the main auction hall, which will be left as is for the design-focused new tenant to enjoy.

Another two units will be converted as part of the development, including one at the front of the building which retains the original foyer and floor mosaic.

Work is expected to run until summer 2022.
